Game Day in Aggieland

In College Station the Fall Semester is the best time of year because of AGGIE FOOTBALL!!

Aggie Football brings all the Aggies back to their roots! Tailgates, Food, Friends, and watching our Aggies BTHO everyone we play!

One of my favorite things about Game Day is the Game Day outfit preparation! It's the time of year I get to dress up a t-shirt and create casual/cute outfits!

Frustration!!!

Lately due to many things going on in my life I have found myself EXTREMELY frustrated. I have decided that the frustration is the result of some of the events/people around me. I read a few helpful hints to help me deal with this frustration and I thought I would share them in case any of you are feeling the same way. I put them into my own words and compiled them for you.

There is always a source to the frustration. Something/someone is causing you to feel like you are about to BURST.

Take a deep breath and step back
You need to be able to react responsibly to what is happening around you. Don't act on impulse, you will end up making a fool of yourself and in the end not be happy with the result. This will result not only with your own disappoint in this situation, but it will also hurt you in future situations.
You need to step back and be able to see that what is happening is completely separate than the meaning you are giving it. The meaning that you are assigning to the situation is what is fueling your frustration.
No one wants to hear just YOUR opinion. You have to be able to see that you are not the only person involved and this will bring you to the next step and hopefully move forward to a solution for all parties.

Speak Up
The phrase I am going to try using in my situations is "This isn't working for me".
Whether the situation has to do with a person, a process, or a place you can use this phrase to start the conversation and explain your frustration. By opening this door you will hopefully be headed toward a mutual solution. Also this phrase keeps you from pointing fingers at one person.

Have a solution that DOES work for you
It is easy to speak your mind and just get everything off your chest, but does that honestly make you feel better? Before starting the conversation make sure that you have a solution/plan of action that works for you. Seriously think about YOUR solution and think about how you can explain that it is better for everyone.

Be Open to a Solution that is Best for EVERYONE
Hopefully after you speak up there will be communication about different solutions to the issue. After a decission is made whether it is exactly what you wanted or not you still have a choice.
The choices consist of:
1. Change the situation
2. Change your perception of the situation
3. Cope with the situation
4. Leave the situation
Before you make your choice take another step back and separate the way you perceive the situation and the situation itself.
After you make your decision STICK TO IT! It is okay to ask yourself "What have I learned from this" or "What would I do different next time", but do not go back on your choice.

Good thought to end on -
Frustration occurs right before you learn something BIG!
The bigger the frustration the bigger you WIN!

I'm going to end my week by getting a grip on everything that is currently frustrating me. I am going to calm down, ask the questions, state the facts, wait for the outcome, make a choice, and STICK TO IT!

The End

Good Friends, Good Times, Great Memories

For all of my single friends out there you know that there is one accessory you must take out with you on a Saturday night... your girlfriends!

These last few years I have watched my girlfriends walk down the aisle, have babies, build their relationships, and grow professionally. I have also been a shoulder to cry on, watched them move away, and been there when they needed encouragement. I did all of these things without thinking twice. I did it all for these girls because I know when the tables turn, these girls will do it all for me.

I don't know where life might take me or what I may be faced with, but the one thing I know is I will always have is my girlfriends!

This post is for you girls!

Thank you for being there.
Thank you for believing in me.
Thank you for your encouragement and wisdom.

I may not see you everday or talk to you once a week, but I know you are always there and you know I am always here!

Big girls don't cry...

We don't cry because we want to.
We don't always cry because we are sad.
We don't cry to make people feel bad.

We cry when it is the last result.
We cry when we are so overwhelmed with emotion it is the only thing left to do.
We cry after we have bottled everything inside for too long.

Today I cried. I hate crying. I hate the way I look when I cry, and the way my eyes are red and swollen afterward. I hate admitting to crying or for others to see it. I hate all of these things about crying, but the one thing I hate most is the reason I am crying in the first place. There is always a source to the tears. I might not admit it a first, but after I step back, calm down, and take a deep breath it is all very clear. Yes, sometimes this leads to crying all over again.

Sometimes we cry in happiness.
Sometimes we cry in sadness.
Sometimes we cry in anger.

Tonight my tears are in disappointment. Disappointment in myself... Disappointment in another... Disappointment in decisions...

We all make mistakes, sometimes we can take them back, sometimes we can't. Sometimes we can say I'm sorry, sometimes it's to late.

For all of you that have recently made a mistake or hurt someone and you want to take it back... WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?? GO NOW... I wish someone would.

I will probably regret posting this, but for now I'm selecting PUBLISH POST!

Life in Aggieland

I always hear about people leaving Aggieland for a fun night out, weekend away, or just to get-away. Some of us are restricted to budgets and do not get to enjoy these luxuries (cough cough ME). I have compiled a list of fun things that I enjoy about this "college town" and I thought I would share these things with you!

La Bodega on North Gate has great drink specials, great food, and a nice patio to relax on!
They have drink specials daily and at night even have live entertainment!

Lakeside Icehouse
We frequent the Icehouse on Sundays or when they are having a good concert.
They have good drinks and a great patio to relax on and check out one of the best sunset views in Aggieland!

The Tap
Home of the Pickle Shot!
In college I was at the Tap every Monday and Wednesday for karaoke and piano night
I don't get to enjoy those late nights during the week anymore, but we still go for
Happy Hour and during football season TAP BINGO is soooo fun on Monday nights!

Briarcrest Country Club
Yes, I used to work there! We went a few weeks ago and played 9 holes and hit a few balls on the driving range.
It was a blast!
If you are ever looking for something fun and inexpensive to do I suggest checking it out!

Uncorked in Downtown Bryan
Have you been to downtown Bryan lately? It is really coming around!!
They have cute shops, restaurants, and the 1st Friday of every month they have live music everywhere!
Uncorked has a ok wine list and is a great place to plan a girls night! It is relaxing and full of couches and comfy
places to sit and enjoy yourself. Their prices are great and you could sit and visit for hours with your friends!!

Football Season is right around the corner and this is by far the best part about still living in Aggieland!
This year I have become very involved with the BEST tailgating crew ever!
If you haven't liked us on facebook or if you don't have a tailgate to call your own you should check this one out!
It is full of great people, great food, and is the best place to get pumped up before the game!
We also have big screen TVs for you to watch the game if you don't want to make the journey into Kyle Field!
Visit our facebook page and find out where we are at and how you can become a part of this truely one of a kind Aggie Tailgate Experience!

BCS Marathon
This is the Half Marathon I am currently training for.
I am up to 5 miles so far and having a blast getting prepared for this event.
You still have time to start training! Get started and set a goal to run the HALF on 12/11/11!!
Running has been a great way to clear my head at the end of the day and I'm getting into shape too!

Wolf Pen Creek
This is a great spot! It hosts lots of local concerts and events.
I have attended many events here and also like to go for jogs around the park!
Fav Events: Duck Jam, Weinerfest, Earth Day, Worldfest
Check out their event calendar to see what is coming up!

Ok that is all I have this evening! I am sure that I have left things out, but obviously these are the things that fill my week and keep me busy in Aggieland! You don't have to always get out of town to have some fun!
